God. Self. Others.

A MAN FILLED WITH THE LOVE OF GOD, IS NOT CONTENT WITH BLESSING HIS FAMILY ALONE, BUT RANGES THROUGH THE WHOLE WORLD, ANXIOUS TO BLESS THE WHOLE HUMAN RACE.

Leadership Framework

Ensign Root’s Principles of Leadership are taught within a framework of God, self, and others. As God’s eternal truth is understood and embraced, we follow correct principles our influence ripples throughout the world.

God

Who is God? What is my relationship to Him? Why does it matter?

Why would God give His Son for someone like me? Is there something God knows about me that I don’t know about myself?

If a puppy becomes a dog and a kitten becomes a cat, what does a child of God become? Am I ready to take full ownership of this reality?

Self

When in my life am I the happiest? Does this have something to do with my true nature?

What is my potential? How do I reach that potential?

Has Christ had an impact on my life? Am I someone that others want to follow?

How is my relationship with God reflected in my relationship with others?

Others

If I am a child of God, isn’t the same true for my brother, sister, mother, father, friend, and stranger?

Do I have the empathy necessary to understand their needs clearly?

How can I help others in the same way Christ helps me?

Am I leading with Christlike Leadership?

And he that Reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

—John 4:26

5 Steps of Progression

Becoming a Christlike leader takes time, effort, and patience. Ensign Roots teaches this progression through 5 steps:

  1. KNOW your roots.

  2. NOURISH the seed.

  3. TRUST the Gardner.

  4. BLOOM where you’re planted.

  5. GIVE of your fruits freely.

Each day Ensign Roots participants review the steps to gain perspective and guide our thinking, behavior, and service to others.

These 5 Steps help establish the framework, or foundation, to move forward into leadership. We study examples from the life of Jesus Christ and examples of mere mortals. Private introspection comes next followed by a genuine discussion with other Ensign Roots participants. The final act is implementation—an exhibition of the new leadership principles in service towards others.

To accomplish this, Ensign Roots has prepared very unique services opportunities for its participants. These services opportunities truly impact the giver as well as the receiver. This is true leadership. Christlike leadership.

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”

— Joseph Smith

5 Principles of Leadership

Our leadership curriculum at Ensign Roots pulls 5 Principles of Leadership from the Book of Mormon:

L - Learn, Listen, and Lean into it.

E - Empathy for the others and the situation at hand.

A - Antifragility for the long-term win.

D - Dedication to a singular purpose.

E - Empowerment of those around you.

R - Responsibility of oneself. Take extreme ownership.

Studying these principles and prophets in the land of the Book of Mormon is a surreal experience that you cannot miss. The context and surroundings make it come alive and something to always remember!
